Sanding Sponge 400 Tamiya

Tamiya 87147 Sanding Sponge Sheet 400 is a flexible abrasive designed for preparing and finishing plastic model parts. Its P400 aluminum oxide abrasive provides a useful medium-coarse sanding grade for removing excess material, smoothing cut joints, and refining surfaces before moving to finer grits. The flexible sponge backing allows the abrasive to conform to curved and uneven surfaces, making it particularly useful for Gunpla and scale-model work.

The 5 mm-thick sponge backing makes it easier to sand contours and reach areas where a rigid sanding tool may not follow the shape of the part. The sheet can also be cut into smaller pieces with a modeling knife, allowing you to create custom-sized sanding pads for different projects. Tamiya states that the sponge is suitable for both dry and wet sanding and can also be used on wood and metal.
